I graduated college in 2014 without a clear career path, but with a deep interest in people—their inner lives, motivations, and struggles. That curiosity eventually led me to medicine, and I earned my MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2021.
I completed my adult psychiatry residency at Westchester Medical Center, where I also participated in a three-year weekly seminar in psychoanalysis. That experience continues to shape how I think about mental health—deeply, dimensionally, and always in the context of each person’s unique story. I’m now completing a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital, drawn by both the power of early intervention and the rich complexity of human development.
My approach to psychiatry is thoughtful and collaborative. I’m careful with medications, always weighing potential benefits and downsides. I believe the best care comes from working together—through psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and, when appropriate, medication—to support meaningful and lasting change.
Psychiatry has long felt like the right fit for me. It brings together my passion for understanding the human mind and the influence of my mother, who is a psychotherapist and has been a steady source of inspiration throughout my journey. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy sports, music, and reading—especially anything that sheds light on how people think, feel, and grow.
My clinical work includes diagnostic evaluations, medication consultations, and ongoing psychiatric care for people over the age of 18. I offer both psychotherapy and medication management, with a thoughtful, practical, and collaborative approach. I work to build trust and mutual respect, believing that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective treatment. My orientation is grounded in a psychodynamic understanding of development as well as practical tools from cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness. I approach medications carefully—never as a standalone fix, but as one potential part of a broader treatment plan that also includes psychotherapy and meaningful lifestyle change.
Frager Psychiatry provides personalized evaluations, psychotherapy, and medication management to support lasting emotional growth, resilience, and mental wellness.
A psychiatric evaluation is the first step in understanding who you are and what challenges you’re facing. The goal is to develop a formulation—a thoughtful, evolving picture of how your current difficulties have taken shape, drawing from the biological, psychological, and environmental factors in your life. This formulation isn’t static; it grows and deepens as our work continues. But its foundation begins in our first session, and it serves as a roadmap to guide your treatment in a way that is informed, individualized, and meaningful.
Whether I am the first psychiatrist to prescribe you medications or you come with a full regimen already in hand, I work with you to find the best combination of medications to foster your flourishing. Psychiatric medications are incredible tools, but also come with side-effects and risks. I devote just as much time to mitigating these risks and removing unnecessary medications as I do to starting new ones. Medications can be taken continuously for many years in some cases, or as infrequently as once or twice a year, depending on one’s needs.
Psychotherapy is often used as a catchall term, but at its core, it’s a structured, intentional process aimed at fostering meaningful psychological change. My goal in therapy is not just symptom relief, but personal transformation—helping individuals grow in the way they relate to others, engage with work, and understand themselves. I approach this work through a blend of psychodynamic exploration and practical strategies drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Together, we work to uncover deeper patterns, shift unhelpful behaviors, and build a more resilient, fulfilling life.
We’re here to provide compassionate, personalized care for children, adolescents, and families. Whether you prefer remote, in-home, or in-office appointments, our team is ready to support you every step of the way.
